Ysceifiog Village Hall CIO AGM – Ysceifiog Village Hall CIO will be holding its AGM, Wednesday 2nd July, 7pm and members of the public are very welcome to join us.
We are always very happy to welcome new members on to our CIO but equally important to us anyone who thinks they might like to hold events at our Village Hall too.
Ysceifiog Village Hall CIO committee is a small, but dedicated group of people who work to maintain the following goals:
> Ensure Ysceifiog Community (Afonwen, Babell, Lixwm and Ysceifiog) has a community facility that is open, operational and available for our rural community to access. For example have worked to ensure the village hall keeps up with the world of technology by installing operational internal Wi-Fi people can access when at the village hall. We also launched our own website Ysceifiog Village Hall earlier this year. We hope to share news shortly on some project work at the village hall to replace the windows and doors and some news on rebranding.
> We promote, encourage and nurture people and organisations to hold community activities and events to help maintain community camaraderie which in turn helps reduce social isolation. The village hall currently hosts (to name a few) events like Community Film, Bingo, Friday Friends, Pilates and Cor-Y-Llan. We also host Sunday School Superstars, Messy Church and Panto in December. Also, Whist and Saturday Social during the winter months and the Christmas Fayre was re-established last year. We have also hosted businesses who have used our facilities for business and training events.
> We work closely and collectively with Berthen Chapel, Lixwn and St. Mary’s Church, Ysceifiog having developed mutual support for each other as organisations. Without Chapel, Church and the Village Hall there is a real risk that the lovely sense of community we have could be lost. So we work together wherever possible to ensure the beating heart of our community is maintained. We also work closely with Flintshire Local Voluntary Council (FLVC) who are a great supporter of our village hall. We have also recently established working links with Flintshire County Council’s Community Development Team.
