From Here to Absurdity is coming back to Ysceifiog

As part of its current “post-pandemic, pre-apocalypse” tour, the quick-fire satirical sketch show, From Here to Absurdity, is returning to Ysceifiog this autumn and will perform at the Village Hall on Saturday 27th September 2025.

Written and performed by Richard Kelly (freelance contributor to Private Eye) and Ashley Hern (historian and broadcaster on Talk-Radio), From Here to Absurdity comprises 90 minutes of original comedy sketches, performed in a style that recalls the hey-day of Peter Cook, Stephen Fry and Alas Smith and Jones. It has already performed at innumerable venues across the country and has headlined at both the Edinburgh Fringe and Chicago Sketch Festivals. But it is no stranger to these parts either – an earlier version of the show came to Ysceifiog in 2012, and it has since performed at the village halls of Cilcain, Llandegla and Llanasa.

Kelly and Hern will be joined on stage by Lucy Simons, a stand-up comedienne from Chester who has performed at numerous comedy clubs in the north-west. In the course of their set, the Absurdity trio will skewer numerous features of everyday life, including (to quote the cast) “death, divorce and decay… plus Starmer, Sturgeon and Trump”. Those with a healthy suspicion of political correctness, senior managers and Liberal Democrats are also likely to find something moderately amusing. According to one reviewer, “It is a show that is unsuitable for those under 20, and utterly unmissable for those over 50”.

So… if you fancy live comedy that’s a bit different to stand-up, Ysceifiog Village Hall is the place to be on 27th September.

Doors open at 7pm, the show starts at 7.30pm.

Tickets costing £10 can be bought online through Ticket Source click here to go to their website (www.ticketsource.co.uk search Ysceifiog) or via Mark 07899 796 991.

Seating is in cabaret style, and bring your own drinks, light refreshments available on the night, plus a raffle.
